By Saria

In the beginning, there was Link, a small boy with the still fresh look at the world of a 10-year old. His view of the world would soon be rocked however by none of than the greatest evils ever to threaten his tyrance on the peaceful world know as Hyrule. The vile Ganondorf. But, our story will truly begin before even this. It will begin with the creation of the land we all know as Hyrule.

Although the creation of Hyrule has been lost through the generations, the story goes something like this.

The Three Golden Goddesses descended upon the land that would later become Hyrule. They where Din, the Goddess of Power, Fareor, the Goddess of Courage and Nayru, the Goddess of Wisdom. Din cultivated the land and created the earth. Farore's rich soul created the life forms that would uphold the law. Nayru poured her wisdom onto the earth to give the spirit of law to the world. And the Three Golden Goddesses ascended from Earth and they left this Earth with a guiding symbol of their power. And this is the legend of how the Tri-Force was created.

Where the Tri-force lay become holy ground, so the Hyrulians of the time created a sword that would serve as a barrier between the holy ground where the Tri-Force lay and the land know as Hyrule. But, as an extra precaution the Hyrulians created three stones that they left with three of the races: The Kokiris, with The Spiritual Stone of Forest, the Kokiri Emerald. The Gorons, with the Spiritual Stone of Fire, the Goron Ruby. The Zoras, with the Spiritual Stone of Water, the Zora Sapphire.

And so enters our hero for this tale, Link, left in the care of the Kokiris and it Guardian Spirit, the Great Deku Tree. Link spends the early parts of his life living as a Kokiri except in the perspective that Link is the only Kokiri that doesn't have a fairy to call his own. All this would change one fair day, when a fairy, Navi, awoke Link from a nightmare he was having with the request that the Great Deku Tree wanted to see him. Armed with a sword and shield, Link sets out to meet the Deku Tree.

But, all is not well in Kokiri Forest. The Great Deku Tree has had a curse placed upon it by an evil man from the desert. The Great Deku Tree asks that Link goes inside him and dispel the curse from him. Link enters and though he succeeds in expelling the monsters within, it's not enough to save the Great Deku Tree. With his last breath, The Great Deku Trees gives Link the Kokiri Emerald and tells Link to meet the Princess of Destiny, Princess Zelda, who can be found at Hyrulian Castle.

With this Link sets out on his quest to meet the Princess of Destiny, after having snuck past the castle guards, Link finally meets Zelda and she tells Link of her dream and of the man from the desert, Ganondorf. She asks Link to find the two other spiritual stones. After rescuing the Gorons from starvation and the princess of the Zoras from a big fish, Link finally had all of the Spiritual Stones that he needed to open the Door of Time. With the last stone collected Link ran to Hyrulian Castle...But, he was too late. For, out of the castle rode the Princess of Destiny, along with her protector, Impa. In hot pursuit of them, the evil man from the desert, Ganondorf. But, Link saw Zelda throw something into the castle moat. It was the Ocarina of Time. Zelda soon taught Link the Song of Time, with this and the three Spiritual Stones, Link could open the Door of Time and protect the Tri-force from the evil Ganondorf...or so he thought.

Link opened the Door of Time and walked into a high-vaulted chamber, in the middle of the room, embedded into a stone was a sword. Link walked forward and pulled the sword out of its pedestal, unlocking the door to the Holy Land where the sacred Triforce lay. But, before Link could use the Triforce to stop the vile Ganondorf, Ganondorf steals the Triforce causing it to split into three pieces, the Triforce of Power, Courage, and Wisdom. Ganondorf possessed the Triforce of Power, Link the Triforce of Courage, and Zelda the Triforce of Wisdom.

Since Link was too young when he pulled the Master Sword out of its resting place, Link's spirit was locked away, in the Chamber of Sages, where it would remain for seven years. In the seven years that had elapsed there had been great change to the land known as Hyrule. Ganondorf had taken over all of Hyrule and turned the once beautiful Hyrulian Castle into his evil floating fortress. The Gorons where all being held captive by a fire-breathing dragon, Zora's Domain have been frozen over and even the King was incased in a block of unfreeze able ice. His mission was now to awaken all of the Sages so as to seal the even Ganondorf forever. Not even Kokiri Forest was safe, anymore. But, before Link could save anyone else, Link had to save his home, and his best friend. Link ventured forward to save Kokiri Forest and to awaken Saria as Sage of the Forest.

Link faced many evils in that temple, the greatest of which was the boss of the temple, a Phantom of Ganondorf. Link defeated him and after restoring Kokiri Forest into its former condition, Link left the forest and went to save the rest of his childhood friends. The first being his horse, Epona. When Ganondorf took over Hyrule, he gave Lon Lon Ranch to Ingo. In the seven years that Link had been asleep, Ingo's heart had turned corrupt and he would only allow Link to ride Epona for a short amount of time and only if he paid for it.
Link eventually challenged Ingo to a race and having won it, he was allowed to take Epona. Or so he thought. Ingo closed the gate on Link. Causing him to have to jump the fence. With his trusty horse, Link headed off to visit his sworn brother, Darunia.

But, before he could do that he had to find a way to survive the searing heat of Death Mountain Crater where the Fire Temple lay. So Link ventured to Goron City and found it virtually abandoned except for a lone rolling Goron and the Goron shop owner. Link stopped the rolling Goron and found out that he was Darunia's son and that he was named in honor of you. He'll give Link the Goron Tunic which allowed him to survive the heat of Death Mountain Crater. Down in Darunia's room was a secret pathway to the Crater that would make it easier for Link.

Link had not only to deal with the searing heat of the Crater, but the many monsters inside along with the walls of fire that would occasionally pop up. But, Link had to eventually face the greatest evil in that temple. The great dragon Volvagia. Battling on a piece of land surrounded by a vicious pool of lava, Link eventually defeated the dragon, with his trusty new weapon that is now of legend, the Megaton Hammer. Link awakened the Sage of Fire, his sworn brother, Darunia. And Link had to save the last of his childhood friends, the Princess Ruto.

When Link ventured to Zora's Domain seven years later it was very different than when Link first went there as a child. The one thundering waterfall that cascaded with such majesty now lay frozen into a block of ice as did the rest of Zora's Domain. Link ventured up to the Royal Chamber in hopes that King Zora could tell him of what had happened. But, even King Zora was incased in ice. This was a different ice than the rest though. This was Red Ice, melt able only by Blue Fire. Link went into Zora's Fountain in some vain hope that Lord Jabu-Jabu had survived the catastrophe. But, even he was gone. Link, however, saw that a new cavern was opened and able to be accessed with Lord Jabu-Jabu being gone. He entered the cavern where the temperature was no more favorable inside than it was outside. Inside the cavern, Link found Blue Fire and the means necessary to transverse the Water Temple, Iron Boots.

Inside the Water Temple, Link found himself more challenged than he was in any other temple. Not physically, but mentally. The temple contained many puzzles and changes in water level that had to be changed. He however eventually bested the temple facing the final horror in this temple. The boss of Morpha, which was abile to bend water to her will. Quite a problem in a temple full of water right? But, Link eventually figured out that the true demon was the glowing sphere in the water and eventually chopped it up into a million little pieces.

At this point in the histories of Hyrule it tells of two choices that Link could make in his quest to rescue Hyrule from Ganondorf. Link could choose to face the Gerudos, venturing into Ganondorf original home. Or Link could visit an old friend and find a village in flames. But either way the one thing he would need would be the Lenses of Truth, which required venturing below the well in Kakariko Village, the village that was said in legends to originally be home to the Sheikahs. The ancient scrolls of Hyrule never tell which path Link chooses but I shall tell you about the other choice.

The well was like a little shop of horror, but Link ultimately beat it to gain the Lens of Truth. Link could choose one of two places: The Shadow Temple. If the Well was the little shop of horrors then the Shadow Temple was like the mall of horrors. And the ultimate horror contained within the Temple was the huge boss known simply as Bongo-Bongo. His weakness was in his eye which could only be seen with the Lens of Truth.

The Spirit Temple. It rested deep within the Desert Colossus. But this temple would require Link to come back as both an adult and a child. Contained within the temple was one of the final obstacles between Link and Ganondorf. And it would not be easy to take down. But Link gained some help along the way. Contained within the temple was a special forged weapon designed for fighting the twin sorceresses Twinrova. The Mirror Shield that could reflect magic back. With the Mirror Shield equipped Link faced the sisters and sent their other half's magic back to them.

With the two temples beaten Link set off for what used to be Hyrulian Castle but was now Ganondorf's evil floating fortress. The only problem Link faced getting in was the pool of lava that surrounded the castle. But, the sages he released had not forgotten Link's mission anymore than Link had. With their magic combined they created a rainbow bridge that allowed Link to enter.
