  The Wind Waker - Review

We'll start with the graphics to get that outta the way.

Graphics: When the game was first shown in its cel-shaded form, lot of Zelda fans were angered and disappointed, but that still did not keep loyal Zelda fans from pre-ordering the game. There's more to a game than graphics, and there's more to graphics then just appearance or character sprites. For example, the shadows of characters and enemies etc. are like reflections but in total darkness. The shadows are outstanding. The water effects are great too, like the waves and the foamy stuff in the water. Splashes are also a neat effect, like in the cut-scene where Link is flung into the Forsaken Fortress for the first time. Wind Waker is very fluid and plays very nicely. No slowdowns, no jagged edges, none of that. Link's facial expressions are spectacular. When he's happy, he has a big grin on his face, when's he's angry it looks like he grits his teeth. When Link spots something, he gives a look on his face as if to say, "Hey! What's this?" Link's hair and other items flutter in the wind. That's really ko0l! Even though the game is cel-shaded, the graphics are just awesome! The colors are also fantastic. Link's eyes are kind of big though.
Graphics final score: 9.5

Gameplay: The game plays spectacularly well. Like I said before, the game is neatly fluid and there's barely any slowdowns. The controls are simple and easy to get used to. Sailing is probably the biggest con in the game's gameplay. Sailing can often get boring and long, but you can learn a song on your Wind Waker that warps you around the Great Sea so you don't have to sail that much. The dungeons aren't too hard but aren't too easy. The Tingle Tuner connection with the GBA is a kinda helpful. You can buy things like Tingle bombs to blow up stuff (duh), and also other items. Your quest is quite simple. SPOILERS! You have to save your sister and defeat Ganondorf, the bad guy of the Zelda series. END SPOILERS. You quest consists of many things to do, such as sailing to new islands etc. The beginning story is kinda shallow, not really in-depth.
Gameplay final score: 9.3

Sound: The BGM (back ground music) in Wind Waker is nice, silent, and fits neatly into the background. The music goes from slow, cozy tunes to fast paced tunes when a baddie appears. The BGM isn't that great but not the very worst, although the sound FX (effects) are great! The yelling of Link slashes his sword, the enemy cries, explosions, etc. The sound FX are just excellent. I really like them. The Wind Waker songs are unusual though.
Sound final score: 8.8

Fun: Wind Waker, fun? You bet it is. You'll have a wonderful time playing this game. Having fun collection certain items and beating baddies, finding new weapons, and solving puzzles, you can't go wrong.

OVERALL SCORE: 9.2 Phat game (The score is not an average)
